Socratic Seminar : A Lone Way Gone
As a class we read the memoir A Long Way Gone by Ishmael Beah. The book was very emotional and eye opening. Students reacted in such a positive way and they too felt moved by Beah's words. As a closing activity students read an article and participated in a Socratic Seminar. They did an amazing job, and I felt so proud of them, which compeled me to post about it on twitter. I made sure to tag Ishmael Beah in the post...never expecting a response, BUT he acknoledged the post and liked it on twitter. I was so excited to share this with my students. We talked about how social media can be used in a postive way to connect to the world and really make a difference.
